112 works across the European Union and on most GSM mobile phones in many other countries, where it is redirected to the local service. It is not universal — always check the country's own number in our directory.
Can I call an emergency number without credit or a SIM?
In many countries mobile phones can reach emergency numbers without credit, and some networks allow calls without a SIM. Rules vary by country — never rely on it; keep a charged phone with a working plan.
