Numerology, explained simply
Numerology is the symbolic study of numbers and their meanings. It is thousands of years old, appears in many cultures, and today is used mostly for self-reflection, naming, and choosing “lucky” numbers.
The three systems we use
Pythagorean
The Western standard. Letters A–I = 1–9, repeating. Used for Life Path, Expression and Soul Urge.
Chaldean
Sound-based values 1–8, popular in Indian practice for names, businesses and vehicle numbers.
Lo Shu & Chinese
The 3×3 magic square and the sound-based luck of numbers like 8, 6 and 9.

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33
When a total reduces to 11, 22 or 33 before the final step, numerologists keep it as a “master number”. Master number 11 carries heightened intuition and the potential to inspire others. Master number 22 turns big visions into structures that serve many people. Master number 33 is the teacher of love — service, healing and uplifting others.
How to calculate your Life Path
Reduce the month, day and year separately, then add and reduce again. Example — 15 July 1990: month 7; day 1 + 5 = 6; year 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 10 → 1. Total 7 + 6 + 1 = 14 → 5. Life Path 5.
