Lucky Price Tool 🏷️
Chinese-speaking shoppers notice numbers. A price that ends in 8 reads as 发 (prosper), and a 4 reads as 死 (death). Enter your price and get lucky options close to it.
Why lucky pricing works
Western retailers use “charm prices” ending in 9. In Chinese markets the equivalent is 8. Supermarket prices, property listings and restaurant set menus across Greater China, Singapore and Malaysia favour 8, 88, 168 and 888. Menus and price lists avoid 4.
- Restaurants: banquet menus at 1,688 / 2,888 / 3,888 read as prosperity tiers.
- Property: 8 and 88 endings and 8th/18th/28th floors often carry premiums, while 4th and 14th floors sell at a discount or are skipped.
- E-commerce: the 6.18 and 11.11 sales days and prices like 66.66 and 88.88 invite buyers.
FAQ
Should I end prices in 8 or 9?
For Chinese-speaking audiences, 8. For mixed audiences, 8 still works, because it keeps the “just under” charm effect.
Is 4 always bad on a price?
Mostly. The exceptions are recognised positive combinations such as 1314, but on price tags keep 4 out completely.
